GUIDELINES FOR PREVENTION AND MITIGATION OF FLOODING IN THE AREAOF PRALUB SUB-DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY MUANG DISTRICT, KHONKAEN PROVINCE

Abstract The purposes of this study were to study the recent flood situation, operational problems and provide suitable guidelines for the area of PralubSub-district Municipality, Muang district, KhonKaenProvince. The sample populationincluded atotal of 30 people, withexecutives, municipal officers, sub-district headmen and village headmen in the area of PralubSub-district Municipality. Data was collected through interviewing with structured interviews. Survey data was analyzed by content analysis, cumulative frequency and percentage methods. The results showed that there was mostly flooding for not more than 7 days in the area, once a year. Most villages have flooding affecting more than half of the village, with an agricultural area and 16-20 Rai (6,400-8,000 acres) of farmland mostly damaged. Residential areas suffered damage of more than 1 rai (400 acres). Moreover, residential and agricultural properties accumulated total damages of15,001-20,000 baht and15,001-20,000 baht, respectively.
